Gabby Barrera, Montgomery Academy (Tennis)

Won the No. 1 singles championship, beating defending state champ Claire Bosman of Auburn 6-3, 6-0 to help Montgomery Academy to a third-place finish in its first AHSAA 7A State Tournament.

Brady Cavanaugh, Enterprise (Baseball)

Struck out six batters and scattered four hits (all singles) to beat Mary G. Montgomery 2-0 in the decisive game three of their 7A Playoff series.

C.J. Gross, Spain Park (Baseball)

Tossed a complete-game shutout to clinch the Round 1 series in the AHSAA Playoffs over James Clemens. Gross went seven innings, scattering five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

John Paul Head, Vestavia Hills (Baseball)

Went 3-for-9 at the plate with two walks in the three-game series against Sparkman, belting a double and a three-run homer in a 7-2 win in the decisive third game.

Edward Lee, LAMP (Tennis)

Won’t he No. 1 singles state title with a 1-6, 7-5, 11-9 victory over Mitchell Piedra of Houston Academy to help LAMP capture the AHSAA 4A/5A Boys State Tennis Championship.

Nate Mayfield, Bob Jones (Baseball)

Went 4-for-9 at the plate with a double, a homer and five RBIs in a three-game series win over Chelsea.

Dakota NeSmith, Arab (Baseball)

Went 3-for-10 at the plate and drove in three runs with a bases-clearing double in the 6-5 series-clinching Game 3. He also picked up the save in Game 1 and the win in relief in Game 3, allowing no earned runs with six strikeouts over 3.2 innings of work.

Zach Wyatt, Thompson (Baseball)

Tossed a complete game, allowing just one hit and striking out 11 batters to help the Warriors clinch an opening-round series sweep over Huntsville.
