Here are the candidates for the WaFd BankArizona High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 3-9 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Leamsi Acuna, Junior, Flowing Wells - Helping Flowing Wells pick up the win over Marana in its lone game of the week, Acuna had 18 points while shooting 64-percent from the field, along with six rebounds, six assists and a steal. 

Adriana Bachman, Junior, Poston Butte - In Friday’s game against Apache Junction, Bachman had one of her strongest all-around performances of the season. She posted 21 points, seven steals, five assists, five rebounds and two deflections to help defeat the Prospectors 72-16. 

Janae Byrd, Senior, Verrado - Posting a double-double with 24 points and a whopping 13 steals, in addition to six rebounds and four assists, Byrd had a dominant performance on Tuesday to help Verrado plow through Independence and pick up a 73-17 win.

Meisha Caserio, Sophomore, Gilbert - Helping Gilbert to a 63-40 win over Desert Mountain on Tuesday, Caserio led the game in scoring with 17 points while shooting 64-percent from the field. She also had seven assists, a steal and a deflection. 

Kayla Cline, Senior, Payson - Exploding to a career-best performance on Wednesday in the 52-21 victory over Benjamin Franklin, Cline had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists and a pair of steals and blocks. 

Cassandra Coolidge, Sophomore, Sahuaro - In Thursday’s game against Sabino, Coolidge had a career-high 20 points in the 56-51 victory while shooting 80-percent from the field. She also had eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. 

Trayanna Crisp, Senior, Millennium - The future Sun Devil had a strong performance on Thursday night in the game against Canyon View, dominating in scoring with 25 points in the 56-32 victory. Crisp had 25 points, four rebounds, four steals, an assist and two deflections. In another big game the following night against Gilbert, Crisp posted a new career-high of 30 points in the 55-39 win over the Tigers. Making it a double-double with 10 rebounds, Crisp also had two assists, two steals and a deflection to round out her performance.

Lana Croker, Senior, Sandra Day O’Connor - With a career-best performance on Friday night against Liberty, Croker helped the Eagles pick up a 51-22 win with 17 points while shooting 78-percent from the field. She also had seven rebounds, seven steals, six deflections, five assists and two blocks on the night. 

Sasha Daniel, Senior, Seton Catholic - After reaching the 1,000 career point club during the winter break, Daniels was recognized before Wednesday’s game last week for her achievement. On Thursday, she showed why she’s such a crucial part of Seton Catholic’s success this season, posting a season-high 27 points along with seven steals, six rebounds and three assists in the 54-33 victory over Saguaro. 

Demetria Dosela, Freshman, Miami - Her skills continue to improve week over week, as she dropped 21 points and 20 rebounds, along with six assists, six steals and two blocks, to help Miami defeat Willcox 76-12. She followed it up on Thursday by posting 26 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block to help Miami defeat St. Augustine Catholic 64-42. 

Talia Estrada, Senior, Leading Edge Academy - Helping the Spartans pick up a huge 65-13 win over Cicero Prep on Friday, Estrada dominated the stat sheet with 29 points, 10 steals, five assists and two rebounds. 

Amaya Felix, Senior, Verrado - In Monday’s 49-13 blowout win over Lake Havasu, Felix led the game in scoring with 17 points while also snagging seven rebounds, seven steals and two assists. 

Trinity Flores, Senior, Williams Field - With back-to-back dominating performances, Flores closed out the week on a high note. Helping Williams Field pick up a 96-31 win over La Joya on Thursday, Flores had 23 points, seven assists, six steals, six deflections and three rebounds to help cruise to victory. She followed it up on Friday in the 74-35 win over Apollo with 26 points, seven steals, three rebounds, two assists and a block for a strong end to her week. 

Kadie Healy, Senior, Sabino - Healy was busy on Tuesday night in the 65-45 win over Safford. Posting 23 points while shooting 71-percent from the field, she also had five rebounds, four steals, thre blocks and two assists to help power Sabino to victory. 

Geneva Holman, Junior, Dysart - Helping Dysart pick up a 55-42 win over Youngker on Thursday, Holman led the game in scoring with 28 points on the night. She also had four rebounds, three steals and seven deflections.

Ally Jennings, Junior, Benson - In her first game back in action in nearly a month, Jennings posted 19 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, two assists and a block to help Benson stomp Veritas Prep 54-18. 

Myna Johnson, Senior, Cibola - With 24 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two deflections, Johnson dominated on Tuesday to help Cibola to a 59-38 victory against Desert Ridge. 

Britany Kogbara, Junior, Peoria - Kogbara is known for dominating the boards, and it’s exactly what she did on Tuesday in the 62-23 victory over Prescott. Locking in a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, she also had four steals and four blocks.

Michaela Lee, Junior, Deer Valley - Shooting 70-percent from the field, Lee posted 12 points along with 10 rebounds on Tuesday to help Deer Valley soar by Moon Valley 71-30. She also had seven blocks, four assists and three steals, making her presence felt all across the court. On Thursday, she helped the Skyhawks stomp the Desert Edge Scorpions 60-19 with a double-double, posting 21 points and 15 rebounds along with seven blocks and a deflection. 

Acacia Melvin, Senior, Combs - Dropping a double-double in Tuesday’s 37-25 victory over Tempe, Melvin had 15 points and 10 rebounds, along with five steals and two blocks. She followed it up on Thursday with 19 points and 13 rebounds, along with four blocks, two assists and a steal in the 41-32 victory over Cortez. 

Nayeli Nidez-Acuna, Sophomore, Sunnyside -In a close battle against Buena on Tuesday, Nidez-Acuna had an explosive game with 16 points and 20 rebounds, not only good for a double-double but also setting a new personal best for rebounds in the 58-50 victory. 

Karolina Padilla, Junior, Douglas - Helping Douglas pick up a 55-36 win over Amphitheater on Friday, Padilla posted a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds, along with six assists, three steals and two blocks.

Aiyanna Perkins, Freshman, McClintock - Exploding to a career-high 35 points on Tuesday, the freshman was absolutely on fire in the 71-29 victory over West Point. Shooting 71-percent from the field, she also had six steals, five rebounds, three assists and two deflections to help pick up the win. 

Heather Stedman, Freshman, Pinnacle - Following in her older sister’s footsteps, Stedman had a strong game for the Pioneers on Tuesday to help defeat Mountain Pointe 51-39. Stedman had 19 points, nine rebounds, six steals, two assists, as well as a block and a deflection. 

Maureen Ulrich, Sophomore, Xavier College Prep - Shooting 62-percent from the field, Ulrich had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds on Tuesday night in the 61-45 victory over Boulder Creek. She also had four steals and an assist to help come out with the win. 

Mya Way, Junior, Mesquite - With 22 points, five assists, three steals, two rebounds and a block, Way did a little of everything to help the Wildcats pick up a 59-49 road win against Buckeye on Tuesday. She followed it up on Thursday in Mesquite’s 59-13 win over Marcos de Niza with 17 points, five steals, two rebounds and an assist while shooting 88-percent from the field.

Amelie Cartagena, Junior, Seton Catholic - Cartagena put up 17 points for Seton against Coconino on Monday. She also scored 22 points for the Sentinels on Wednesday against Shadow Mountain.
