Congratulations to Canyon del Oro point guard Tyson Helms for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Arizona High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 3-9!

Helping the Dorados slide past the Pueblo Warriors 85-79 on Thursday, the junior had an explosive game with a career-high 41 points in the win. Making it a double-double, he also had 10 assists along with three rebounds. 

Helms received 40.19% of the vote, beating out Miami's Gabe Escobedo who finished second with 32.51%. Cortez's William Allen finished third with 12.06% and Marana's Wes Ball finished fourth with 4.94%. There were over 26,000 votes tallied this week!

William Allen, Senior, Cortez – In a close game against Combs on Thursday, Allen had 32 points while shooting 60-percent from the field to lead the game in scoring. He also had five assists along with three rebounds and three steals in the 79-77 road loss.
