Congratulations to Deer Valley center Michaela Lee for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Arizona High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 3-9!

Shooting 70-percent from the field, the junior posted 12 points along with 10 rebounds on Tuesday to help Deer Valley soar by Moon Valley 71-30. She also had seven blocks, four assists and three steals, making her presence felt all across the court. On Thursday, she helped the Skyhawks stomp the Desert Edge Scorpions 60-19 with a double-double, posting 21 points and 15 rebounds along with seven blocks and a deflection. 

Lee received 46.16% of the vote, beating out Seton Catholic's Sasha Daniel who finished second with 33.7%. Peoria's Britany Kogbara finished third with 5.69% and Flowing Wells' Leamsi Acuna finished fourth with 4.62%. There were over 27,000 votes tallied this week!

Leamsi Acuna, Junior, Flowing Wells – Helping Flowing Wells pick up the win over Marana in its lone game of the week, Acuna had 18 points while shooting 64-percent from the field, along with six rebounds, six assists and a steal.
