Fannin served as defensive coordinator with the Leopards from 2012-16.

The De Queen School Board met Monday evening and officially approved the hiring of Dierks head football coach Jarrod Fannin for the same position along with assistant athletic director for the district.

Fannin will replace Brad Chesshir, who turned in his resignation at the end of March after accepting the athletic director/head football coaching position at Murfreesboro.

Fannin served as defensive coordinator with the Leopards from 2012-16 before returning to Dierks, his alma mater, in 2017 as an assistant before being promoted to head coach in 2018 in which he has served the previous four seasons. Fannin took the Outlaws to the playoffs all four years and compiled a 24-22 record, winning conference championships in 2020 and 2021.

With the upcoming new conference realignments for 2022-24, De Queen will continue to compete in the 5A-South conference with Camden Fairview, Hope, Hot Springs, Little Rock Parkview, Magnolia, Lakeside and Texarkana.
