Gridiron Icons was created by Kyle Sutherland in January of 2021. The basis of the podcast is to feature the lives and careers of some of the greatest high school football coaches to walk the sidelines on Friday nights.

Gridiron Icons has already featured the likes of David Carpenter, Don Campbell, Tommy Tice, Bernie Cox and many others. We will be releasing one show per month that can be heard on this website or on Spotify. You can access the previous 11 episodes of Gridiron Icons here

The SBLive debut of the Gridiron Icons: Arkansas' Greatest High School Coaches podcast features the story of the second all-time winningest high school football coach in Arkansas history: Mike Malham.

Growing up under his father Mike Sr., Malham essentially always knew he would make football his livelihood one way or another.

Following an all-state career playing for Mike Sr. at Little Rock McClellan, Malham followed his dad to Arkansas State, where he was hired to the Indians staff and became one of the school's all-time great players.

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1976 and spent a few years in the NFL before injuries ended his career.

From there, he began his coaching career under the legendary Bill Reed at Jacksonville in 1978, where he stayed until accepting his first and only head coaching job at Cabot, where he remained for 38 years until his retirement after the 2018 season.

He won 301 games with the Panthers and guided them to two state titles along with a lengthy list of other accomplishments.
