Congratulations to Fort Smith Southside baseball RHP Ty Jones for being voted SBLive’s Arkansas High School Athlete of the Week for May 2-8!

The junior allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits in 8 innings with 3 strikeouts while going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in a 3-2, 9-inning victory over Springdale.

Jones received 50.87% of the vote, beating out Brookland's Jack Henry Petit who finished second with 31.48%. There were over 22,000 votes tallied this week!

The sophomore allowed 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 13 in 2-1 victory over Brookland in the 4A East Regional Tournament.

Abby Gentry, Bryant softball

Gentry had two hits, including a home run, in a 7-2 victory over North Little Rock.

Isaiah Sategna, Fayetteville boys track and field

The senior tied for the victory in the 100 (11.6 seconds) with Carson Tucker of Bentonville, won the 110 hurdles (14.20), the 300 hurdles (38.36) and broke the state record in the long jump (24-8), breaking the 6A record of Pine Bluff’s Basil Shabazz of 24-3 3/12 in 1991 and the overall record of 24-5 3/4 by Conway’s Joseph Wright in 1996 at the Class 6A State Meet in Little Rock.

Samantha De Luca, Episcopal Collegiate girls soccer

The junior had 2 goals and 1 assist in a 3-2 victory over Valley View.

Olivia Pielemeier, Lake Hamilton girls track and field

The junior won the 800 (2:20.74), 1,600 (5:11.43) and 3,200 with a meet-record time of 11:15.86 at the Class 5A State Meet in Van Buren.

Austin Rainey, Conway baseball

The senior had a single, double, home run and 4 RBI in a 18-8 victory over Bryant.

Josh Hynerman, Jonesboro baseball

The senior went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and scored 3 runs in a 8-0 victory over Searcy.

Gage Wood, Batesville baseball

The senior struck out 14 and walked 4 while not allowing a hit in a 13-0 victory over Nettleton.

Eder Leal, Jonesboro boys soccer

The senior scored 2 goals in a 7-0 victory over Nettleton.

Yajaira Alvarado, Jonesboro girls soccer

The junior had 1 goal and 2 assists in a 6-0 victory over Nettleton.

Kessiah Bemis, Fayetteville girls track

The senior won the 300 hurdles (45.22), was second in the 400 (59.33), second in the 100 (12.99), second in the long jump (18-6 3/4) and second in the triple jump (37-3 1/4) at the Class 6A State Meet in Little Rock.

Micah McMillan, Valley View girls soccer

The junior scored 3 goals in a 7-1 victory over Batesville Southside.

Ryleigh Landrum, Lincoln softball

The junior went 4-for-4 with 3 singles and 1 double and scored 4 runs in a 10-5 victory over Hackett in the Class 3A North Regional Tournament.

Lillie Faye-McWorter, Woodlawn softball

The freshman had two home runs in a 7-3 victory over Junction City in the 8-2A Regional Tournament.

Evan Armitage, Lake Hamilton boys track and field

The senior set a meet record in the 3,200 (9:32.97) in the Class 5A State Meet in Van Buren.

Manuel Martin, Elkins baseball

The junior went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI in a 14-4 victory over Hackett in the 3A Region 1 Tournament.

Abbi Brookreson, Brookland girls soccer

The sophomore scored 2 goals in a 2-0 victory over Wynne.

Jack Henry Petit, Brookland baseball

The senior struck out 10, walked 1 and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings in a 2-1 loss to Pulaski Academy in the 4A East Regional Tournament.

Brooks Herrera, Booneville baseball

The junior struck out 7 in 7 innings while going 2-for-5 2 with a double in a 7-6 victory over Bergman.

Natalie Creasey, McCrory softball

The senior went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI in a 14-5 victory over Buffalo Island Central in the regional tournament.

Elise Knight, Valley View girls track and field

The senior set the meet record in the 3,200 (11:41.63) in the Class 4A State Meet in Harrison.

Matthew Dunsworth, Clarksville boys track and field

The senior won the 1,600 (4:32.60) and 3,200 (9:58.40) at the Class 4A State Meet in Harrison.

Madalynn Bermingham, Bauxite softball

The freshman struck out 10 while allowing 1 hit and walking none in a 3-0 victory over Monticello in the regional tournament.

Gavin Alveti, Harding Academy baseball

The senior threw 5 perfect innings and went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI in a 9-1 victory over Rivercrest in the regional tournament.
