Walkoff lifts underdog Olympia to 3-2 win over Issaquah in the 4A state baseball semifinals


PASCO — By the force of will, Olympia High School’s quest for the 4A state championship is one step away.

Junior Mason Meconi hit a walkoff three-RBI double to lift the Bears, who just weeks ago finished fourth in the 4A South Puget Sound League, to a 3-2 win over Issaquah to advance to the 4A state title game.

Meconi walked up to the plate with one out and bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh trailing by two runs, and he was just hoping for a fastball.

“And I got it, “Meconi said, “and I didn’t miss it.”
