It has been a big week for Federal Way High School basketball star Jaden McDaniels. The 6-10 senior forward was named a McDonald's All-American on Thursday, then he came out Friday and scored a school-record 51 points in a 106-42 win over Todd Beamer. We caught up with McDaniels on Monday to ask him eight questions:

How would you describe your game?

My game is very versatile, I can play multiple positions, I can guard multiple positions, score inside and outside.

What are your goals for the season both individually and as a team?

Team goal for me is winning a State Championship and individual award is winning Gatorade Player of the Year.

How would you describe your coach?

Coach Reed is real mild-mannered and real laid back but he doesn’t hesitate to get on me and coach me hard.

Who's your favorite player?

My favorite player is John Wall.

Who's your toughest matchup this season and why?

I don’t really pay attention to who my matchup is. I just play the game and try to destroy whoever is guarding me that night.

Where is your favorite gym in the state?

My favorite gym to play in is Federal Way High School gym. I hope they retire my jersey in that gym.

What are your aspirations as a player?

My aspiration as a player is to play in the NBA. It’s a dream I’ve had since I first started playing basketball.

How does it feel to be selected as a McDonald's All-American?

Means a lot to me to be selected as a McDonald's All American. Only 12 other people have been selected so it’s an honor to be the 13th person selected from Washington, and I look forward to representing our state in the game.
