The sky is the limit for Cole Bajema, who is hoping to lead Lynden Christian (23-0) to back-to-back 1A state championships.

Tucked away in tiny Lynden, just five miles from the Canadian border, Bajema has made national headlines with his play. A rangy 6-7 guard who can fill it up from deep or create off the dribble, he caught the attention of Michigan coach John Beilein last spring and went on to earn a scholarship with the Wolverines.

Bajema and the Lyncs will take the floor again on Thursday in the 1A state quarterfinals at the Yakima SunDome. We recently caught up with Bajema and asked him seven questions:

How would you describe your game?

I am able to score from anywhere on the court. Whether it be a deep 3, taking my defender 1-on-1, or dishing to teammate for a bucket. On the defensive side I use my length as an advantage to pick up steals and block shots.

What are your goals for the season?

Team goal - Repeat as State Champions!

Individual goal - To be the best leader and role model I can be. To be a complete player, not just on one side of the ball.

How would you describe your coach (Roger DeBoer)?

Coach DeBoer is passionate, he loves the game! He tries to get the most out his players given their talent. Personally, I know he trusts me on the court. That means a lot.

Who is your favorite player?

Luka Doncic. As a rookie, he is making a name for himself. I like the complete player that he is.

Who was your toughest matchup of the season?

Lynden HS. There was a lot of hype about this game, our cross-town rival, they are one of the best teams in the state, a very solid team!

(Editor's note: Lynden Christian won 75-57)

What is your favorite gym in state to play in?

Mt. Vernon High School. It’s an iconic gym with a lot of basketball history there. Typically we have played well there as a team.

What are your aspirations as a player?

My goal is to be the best I possibly can, to work on parts of my game that need improvement & play at the highest level possible.
