Every Tuesday, Scorebook Live California’s Connor Morrissette will release his LA City Section boys basketball rankings. His Week 9 list is below.

1. Fairfax (19-4)

Following a surprising defeat to Lynwood, Fairfax has blown out Venice and Palisades. They have a huge game against Westchester on Wednesday.

2. King/Drew (19-5)

King/Drew was upset by Fairmont Prep 66-61 on Saturday, but their win over Washington Prep keeps them at two. The Golden Eagles will go for the league sweep of the Generals on Friday.

3. Taft (18-6)

The good news: Taft is 6-0 in the West Valley League. The bad news: the Toreadors lost big to Long Beach Poly 68-48 without Ramel Lloyd on Saturday. Taft has a big one against Birmingham on Wednesday.

4. Washington Prep (13-11)

Washington Prep has won three games in a row against View Park, Fremont and Crenshaw. They have a rematch with King/Drew on Friday.

5. Westchester (15-6)

Westchester is getting hot at the right time. They've won seven games in row. The Comets have a huge game against Fairfax on Wednesday.

6. Gardena (20-3)

Gardena is the first team to 20 wins in the City Section. They've won 14 games in a row. What seed will the Panthers get in the Open? Their best wins are over Long Beach Poly and St. Francis.

7. Birmingham (14-7)

Birmingham looks like Birmingham again. Following their midseason dip, the Patriots have won five games in a row. They came out on top in a thriller over Mayfair on Saturday.

8. View Park (11-6)

View Park has lost their last two against Washington Prep and King/Drew. Before that they had won five games in a row.

9. University (16-8)

University won a key City Section game over Palisades two weeks ago 59-51. Since then, they've lost to Fairfax and Westchester and won against La Salle, Hamilton, and LACES.

10. El Camino Real (10-13)

Since beating Birmingham and Chatsworth, the Conquistadors have lost five of six. They've been in a lot of close games against good teams, but haven't been able to win.
