Every Tuesday, Scorebook Live California’s Connor Morrissette will release his LA City Section boys basketball rankings. His Week 1 list is below.

1. Fairfax (0-0)

The Lions start their season Saturday against Colony.

2. Birmingham (1-0)

The Patriots beat Palisades 58-48 to start 1-0.

3. Westchester (0-0)

The Comets start their season in December.

4. Taft (2-1)

The Toreadors picked up a key City Section victory over Washington Prep last week, winning 72-70. Taft has a lot of talent, led by sophomore point guard Ramel Lloyd, but it will take some time to gel.

5. El Camino Real (1-0)

The Conquistadors picked up a great point guard transfer in senior Amyr Henry from Philadelphia. He led ECR to their season opening 75-62 win over Van Nuys scoring 23 points.

6. Washington Prep (1-3)

The Generals have played the toughest schedule of any City team by a mile; don't let the record fool you. Washington probably should have beaten Taft, but lost on a controversial block/charge call. They've won against Crossroads and lost to good Renaissance Academy and Windward teams in addition to the Taft defeat.

7. Gardena (2-0)

Gardena has wins over Jefferson and Oak Hills. Junior guard Chris Page will be a difference maker following his transfer from Fremont.

8. King/Drew (1-0)

The Golden Eagles started the year with a 72-51 win over Compton.

9. Granada Hills (1-2)

The Highlanders win came over Santa Clara 64-39 last week. They've lost to Holy Martyrs and Loyola.

10. University (1-3)

The Wildcats lost two heartbreakers to Lynwood and Peninsula to start the Pac Shores Tournament at Redondo last week. University beat Narbonne in double OT to get their first win in a consolation game.
