Points were at a premium in Tuesday night’s Oklahoma boys basketball matchup between Anadarko and Weatherford.

The visiting Warriors utilized the infamous stall offense and nearly pulled off the upset before falling on the road, 4-2.

According to reports on Twitter, Anadarko didn’t score until the fourth quarter and held the ball until the final seconds before missing a potential game-winning 3-pointer. Weatherford, which improved to 19-1 on the season, led 2-0 at halftime.

Back in January, the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association board of directors narrowly struck down a proposal to bring a shot clock to the state.

Anadarko head coach Doug Schumpert told SBLive in January that a shot clock wasn’t necessary because holding the ball isn’t as common as some people believe.

“It would be interesting to see if you could sit down and watch some games with a clock right there, to see how many times would the clock go off in games right now,” Schumpert said. “The OSSAA has said they’ve done that at the state tournament and there’s not very many games where the shot clock would go off.”

Another interesting tidbit from Tuesday's game is that all four points from Weatherford were scored by sophomore CJ Nickson, including his 1,000th career point.
