With the 2019-20 high school basketball season tipping off the week of Nov. 18, Scorebook Live California is previewing the Top 50 boys basketball teams in Southern California. Our Top 50 list spans the Southern, L.A. City and San Diego Sections.

Here are numbers 25 to 21 in our team rankings.

25. Chaminade | 2019-20 schedule

Head coach: Bryan Cantwell

Last year’s record: 21-10

Division: Southern Section Division 2AA

Top player: KJ Simpson

Outlook: Chaminade has the top backcourt duo in the Mission League with juniors KJ Simpson and Keith Higgins. Both players are great scorers and ball handlers. Senior center Abe Eagle stands at 6-foot-10 and will be the primary rebounder for the Eagles this season. Crespi transfer Colin Weems, a junior, is another shooter and Chaminade junior quarterback Jaylen Henderson will do a little bit of everything for the Eagles once the football season ends. Chaminade will compete for league and section titles this season.

24. Colony | 2019-20 schedule

Head coach: Jerry De Fabiis

Last year’s record: 31-6

Division: Southern Section Division 1

Top player: Brenton Knapper

Outlook: Colony lost star guard Sedrick Altman to Pepperdine, but the Titans return a good amount of talent from last season's Southern Section Division 2A championship team. Here's coach Jerry De Fabiis' breakdown:

"Our top players will be Denim Dawson (2021), Brenton Knapper (2021), Fred Burton (2020) a transfer from Sacramento, Kylan Boswell (2023), Kollen Murphy (2023), and Denzel Hines (2023). We believe in an up tempo game where we have multiple full court presses and take pride in our half-court man to man. Our motto is "Defend, Rebound, Run 'em."

23. Long Beach Poly | 2019-20 schedule

Head coach: Shelton Diggs

Last year’s record: 21-7

Division: Southern Section Division 1

Top player: Peyton Watson

Watson

Outlook: Peyton Watson is one of the top junior forward prospects in the country. He has the talent to carry a Long Beach Poly team that doesn't have too much behind him due to losing a large group of seniors from last season. Junior Solomon Jones is a 6-foot-8 forward who will be the second scoring option for the Jackrabbits. The rest of the team will be filled with new faces.

22. Rolling Hills Prep | 2019-20 schedule

Head coach: Harvey Kitani

Last year’s record: 26-7

Division: Southern Section Division 2AA

Top player: JT Tan

Outlook: Senior center JT Tan, a Lehigh commit, will be Harvey Kitani's go-to option in the post this season. He's had a great fall. Sophomore guard Benny Gealer is one of the top players in his class and senior Vaughn Flowers is a great athlete who can score from all over. Winning Division 2AA will be a challenge, but the Huskies are certainly in the hunt.

21. Corona Centennial | 2019-20 schedule

Head coach: Josh Giles

Last year’s record: 27-6

Division: Southern Section Division 1

Top player: Paris Dawson

Outlook: Corona Centennial lost three starters from last year's team to transfers. Jaylen Clark (Etiwanda), DJ Davis (Riverside Poly) and Dennis Cash (Trinity International Prep in Nevada) all will be playing at new schools this season. The Huskies will be young due to the departures, but they do have two talented seniors in Paris Dawson, a Portland State commit and Mason Machado, a 6-foot-7 senior who is committed to Northwest Nazarene. With all the transfers, junior guard Donovan Watkins will have an increased role in 2019-2020. Corona Centennial has a good incoming freshman class with PG Jared McCain, F Aaron McBride and F Jeremiah Whitmore.
