Highlights: Mater Dei girls basketball edges out Etiwanda in 54-50 playoff opener
Mater Dei opened up Open Division pool play with an exciting victory.
SANTA ANA– Mater Dei beat Etiwanda 54-50 in a close one to start Southern Section Open Division pool play.
Alyssa Frescas led Mater Dei with 16 points and Meaali'i Amosa had 15. Caia Elisaldez and Brooke Demetre both had eight points and numerous assists.
Joy Campbell led all scorers with 19 points. Jessica Peterson added 12 for Etiwanda.
