Week 1 LA City Section high school baseball rankings: Venice debuts
Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 10 LA City Section high school baseball rankings for the week of February 25th. The rankings are put out weekly by Scorebook Live California reporter Connor Morrissette.
1. San Pedro (1-0)
San Pedro pitcher Travis Connelly threw a no hitter in the Pirates’ season opening 14-0 win over Bellflower.
2. El Camino Real (2-1-1)
ECR has wins over Agoura and Newbury Park. The Conquistadors lost to Thousand Oaks 6-1 and tied Dos Pueblos 1-1 in a game that was called due to darkness.
3. Cleveland (3-1)
Cleveland has beaten Valencia and lost to Hart.
4. Birmingham (3-1)
Birmingham picked up a key City win over Poly 5-2 last week.
5. Granada Hills (2-2)
Granada Hills started 0-2, but have won two straight over St. Bonaventure and Burbank.
6. Kennedy (2-1)
Kennedy has wins over Ventura and Westlake and a loss to Moorpark.
7. Palisades (2-2)
Palisades has beaten Roosevelt and San Fernando, but lost to Sylmar.
8. San Fernando (2-2)
San Fernando has beaten Verdugo Hills and Paraclete. They've lost to Buena and Palisades.
9. Venice (2-2)
Venice's best win is over Roosevelt. They've lost to Chaminade and Windward.
10. Roosevelt (2-2)
Roosevelt has beaten Sylmar and lost to Palisades.
