L.A. Unified schools superintendent Austin Beutner announced on Monday that LAUSD facilities will remain closed throughout the summer. That means no seven on seven football can take place at LAUSD schools, there will be no summer open gyms and no access to fields and weight rooms.

With school facilities shut down through the summer, what does that mean for fall sports?

"The State CIF and Commissioners are creating a sub-committee to look at fall sports and contingency plans for playoffs," L.A. City Section Sports Information Director Dick Dornan said via text message on Monday. "It's in the early stages."

City Section commissioner Vicky Lagos indicated that the CIF is considering a September start for football.

Here's the official statement from LAUSD. We will update this post with more information as it becomes available.
