Welcome to something that is the first of its kind at SBLive California – the 2019-20 senior male and female athletes of the year for Southern California.

In the search for the Ventura County Senior Boy Athlete of the Year, SBLive's Lance Smith and Connor Morrissette considered athletes who not only led their teams to winning seasons, but also dominated the competition.

Oak Park basketball star Clark Slajchert stood above the rest, and he has been selected as SBLive's Ventura County Senior Boy Athlete of the Year.

Enjoy as we honor some of Southern California's top senior athletes over the next week!

The numbers speak for themselves.

Oak Park guard Clark Slajchert averaged 31 points and shot 53-percent from the field in 2019-20. He also averaged 6.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds while leading Oak Park to a 27-3 record.

Over his four-year varsity career, Slajchert scored 2,833 points, which is second all-time in Ventura County only to former teammate and current Utah forward Riley Battin, who had 2,971. Slajchert scored 930 points in his senior season, the second-largest single season Ventura County tally ever. Simi Valley's Don MacLean finished with 1,008 points in 1987-88.
