OTAY MESA -- In a back-and-forth second half that never saw either team take a lead of more than four points, it was Mater Dei Catholic that came out on top in Saturday's San Diego Section Division 1 Boys Basketball Championship, 51-49 over La Costa Canyon. Mater Dei Catholic senior Melo Sanchez led all scorers with 20 points including the game-clinching free throws to give the Crusaders a four-point lead with 17 seconds left to play. La Costa Canyon senior forward Ryan Norrbohm led the Mavericks with 14 points. Check out the photos from the game below.
