Southern Section releases boys and girls basketball Open Division playoff teams
Corona-Centennial received the overall No. 1 seed in the boys' tournament and Etiwanda received the No. 1 seed for the girls'.
The Southern Section released its 16 Open Division playoff boys and girls basketball teams on Sunday afternoon. Eight boys teams and eight girls teams will compete in a round robin tournament to determine the two finalists in the Section's top division. A Blue-Ribbon committee of current and former Southern Section coaches as well as school administrators and members of the media selected the teams using the following criteria:
- Strength of schedule
- Overall Record
- Freeman/Max Preps/CIF-SS Top 16 rankings
- Strength at end of season (including roster addiƟ ons/eligibility changes/winning & losing
streaks/etc.) - Head to Head vs. Open Division Entries
- Overall Record vs. Open Division Entries
- Victory vs. Quality opponents
- Quality loss
- Unexpected loss
