SACRAMENTO, Calif. - If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

All season long Stuart Hall’s senior guards Brandon Lum and Jackson Jung have provided the majority of the Knights’ offensive production. The duo was at it again on Friday in the Division V CIF State championship game from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento combining for 42 points to lead Stuart Hall to a 56-45 win over Chaffey.

Lum scored 22 points and Jung scored 20 to give Stuart Hall the school’s first boys basketball state title in its history.

Stuart Hall began to pull away from Chaffey in the second quarter when Lum went on a solo 7-0 run which included a 4-point play to extend the Knights’ lead from 13-10 to 20-10. Minutes later, Jung drilled two 3-pointers of his own to put Stuart Hall up 26-14. At halftime, the Knights led 30-16.

In the second half, Chaffey hit two quick baskets to begin the third quarter but Jung killed the Tigers' momentum with his fourth 3-pointer of the game giving the Knights’ a 33-20 advantage.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Chaffey made another run culminating in a three-point play from Jonathan Jackson which cut the Tigers’ deficit to nine points, 47-38. But Stuart Hall’s players hit their free throws down the stretch to ice the game.

Tyler Terry scored 13 points to lead Chaffey in defeat. Tigers’ center Dejon Clark scored seven points. Stuart Hall’s post players worked hard to limit the Chaffey big man’s production. Clark finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in Chaffey's 63-53 Division 5 Southern Regional championship win over La Quinta.

Chaffey was attempting to win its first state championship in school history and end the season on a high note after losing in overtime to Villanova Prep 75-69 in the 5AA Southern Section championship game.
