Congratulations to Crystal Springs Uplands girls basketball guard Jemma Lacap for being voted SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 28-March 6!

The sophomore averaged 18 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.7 APG, and 1.7 SPG in the Gryphons' three Regional playoff games, and scored a team-high 22 points in their narrow semifinals loss to San Domenico.

Lacap received 50.37% of the vote, beating out Pleasant Valley's Noah Thomas who finished second with 35.04%. Sacred Heart Prep's Aidan Braccia finished third with 13.6% and Antelope's Mary Carter finished fourth with 0.64%.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:

Nicole Steiner, Los Gatos C:

Steiner went off to lift the Wildcats over Lick-Wilmerding 52-51 in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs, going for a career-high 25 points and 22 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Mary Carter, Antelope F:

In the first two rounds of the Division 2 playoffs, Carter averaged 32 points, 15.5 rebounds, four assists, and 3.5 blocks per game on 60% shooting (64.3% EFG) for the Titans, who are in the Regional finals.
