Meet SBLive's 2022 All-Sac-Joaquin Section Boys Basketball teams: Modesto Christian's Jamari Phillips is Player of the Year
With the 2022 California high school basketball season in the books, it's time to hand out some awards.
Here are SBLive's Boys Basketball All-Sac-Joaquin Section first and second teams. The Section wide teams were compiled by SBLive reporter Connor Morrissette and include a Player of the Year.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
G: Jamari Phillips - Modesto Christian - Sophomore
Phillips was the top player on Northern California’s top team this season. The sophomore scored 20 points in Modesto Christian’s 59-50 loss to Corona Centennial in the CIF State Open Division championship game. He’s received scholarship offers from Cal, Illinois and Kansas.
ALL-SECTION FIRST TEAM
G: BJ Davis - Modesto Christian - Junior
Davis was named a Tri-City Athletic League first team selection. He scored 28 points in Modesto Christian 77-55 Open Division state playoff win over Archbishop Mitty.
G: Rishod Brown - Grant - Senior
Brown averaged 20.4 points per game for the Division 2 Sac-Joaquin Section champion Pacers.
G/F: Miles Byrd - Lincoln (Stockton) - Senior
Byrd is a San Diego State signee. He scored 28 points in Lincoln's 66-62 Tri-City Athletic League win over Modesto Christian this season. Byrd averaged 17 points per game on the year.
G/F: Derrick Claxton - Inderkum - Senior
Claxton averaged 21.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season for the Division 1 Sac-Joaquin Section semifinalist Tigers.
G/F: Rashaud Bradley - Sheldon - Senior
Bradley had a big year averaging 13.7 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game for Sheldon. He led the Huskies to the Division 1 Sac-Joaquin Section championship game.
ALL-SECTION SECTION TEAM
G: Ameere Britton - Elk Grove - Senior
Britton led Elk Grove to the Division 2 CIF State championship this season. He scored 20 points in the Thundering Herd's 62-56 win over Santa Ana Foothill. Overall, Britton averaged 18 points and 6 rebounds per game this season.
G/F: Andrej Stojakovic - Jesuit - Junior
Stojakovic averaged 25.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for Jesuit this season. He's received scholarship offers from Louisville, Minnesota and St. Mary's.
F: Manasse Itete - Modesto Christian - Sophomore
Itete was a Tri-City Athletic League second team selection this season. He shined when the lights were brightest and steadily improved as the year went on. In Modesto Christian's 59-50 Open Division state championship loss to Corona Centennial, he scored 11 points to spark a 14 point comeback that ultimately fell short.
F: Takai Emerson-Hardy - Vanden - Senior
Emerson-Hardy was named the Monticello Empire League MVP this season. He scored over 1,000 points and grabbed over 1,000 rebounds in his high school career. On the season, Emerson-Hardy averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per game.
F: Brycen Shackelford - Folsom - Senior
Shackelford led Folsom on deep Section and State playoff runs this season. In the Bulldogs' 64-50 state playoff win over Dublin, he scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
