SBLive’s California Baseball Top 25: Servite moves up to No. 9 in statewide rankings

The Friars bounced back with a sweep of No. 10 Santa Margarita last week.

After getting swept by No. 1 Orange Lutheran two weeks ago, No. 9 Servite rebounded with a sweep of their own last week against No. 10 Santa Margarita.

SBLive’s statewide California high school baseball rankings are compiled by SBLive reporter Bodie DeSilva and are released weekly throughout the 2022 season.

1. Orange Lutheran (12-2)

The Lancers played three close games with Trinity League foe Mater Dei Last week, winning the first two.

2. Yucaipa (11-2)

The Thunderbirds scored a combined 22 runs in two league wins last week against Beaumont and Redlands East Valley.

3. Sierra Canyon (17-0)

The Trailblazers beat Brentwood twice last week including a 14-0 shutout on Friday. They then beat Hart 7-3 on Saturday to remain unbeaten.

4. Harvard-Westlake (13-3-1)

The Wolverines took two of three games from Crespi last week. They're in Alabama this week for a tournament at Hoover High School.

5. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (12-4-1)

The Knights swept Chaminade last week. They'll take on St. Francis in a three-game series this week.

6. Clayton Valley Charter (8-1)

The Ugly Eagles moved to 3-1 in league play with two wins over Campolindo last week.

7. Buchanan (8-2)

The Bears beat Paso Robles 12-1 in their only game last week. They'll be off until they play Oakmont on April 11th.

8. De La Salle (8-1)

The Spartans handled Dougherty Valley and Livermore last week, winning by a combined score of 20-5.

9. Servite (8-3)

The Friars bounced back from getting swept against Orange Lutheran by sweeping previously unbeaten Santa Margarita. They'll take on No. 11 JSerra this week.

10. Santa Margarita (12-3)

Collin Clarke

The Eagles were swept by No. 9 Servite last week for their first three losses of the season. They'll play Mater Dei three times this week.

11. JSerra (9-9)

The Lions clawed their way back into the Trinity League race with two wins over No. 22 St. John Bosco last week.

12. Villa Park (12-1)

The Spartans stayed unbeaten in league play with wins over Canyon and No. 18 Foothill last week. They'll play three games this week including two more against Canyon.

13. Arlington (16-1)

The Lions won three more game last week, all by one run, to stretch their winning streak to 16 straight. They'll travel to Santiago and Long Beach Wilson this week.

14. King (9-3)

King was off last week. Games against Gahr, Temescal Canyon and La Quinta are scheduled for this week.

15. Elk Grove (9-2)

The Thundering Herd swept Sheldon last week, outscoring the Huskies 34-2 over the three games.

16. St. Augustine (9-0-2)

The Saints beat Christian on Wednesday 2-1 and followed it up with a 2-0 win against Scripps Ranch on Thursday.

17. Huntington Beach (10-4)

The Oilers have won six straight including three against Sunset Surf League competition last week.

The Knights went 2-1 last week with the loss coming against No. 12 Villa Park in extra innings.

19. San Marcos (8-1-1)

The Knights continue to post huge offensive numbers. They scored a combined 25 runs in two games last week and are averaging over 11 runs per game.

20. Cypress (11-3-2)

Cypress dropped Saturday's game to El Dorado, 3-2. They'll continue league play this week with two games against Valencia.

21. Tesoro (13-1)

The Titans went 3-0 last week and will begin league play with a series against El Toro this week.

22. St. John Bosco (11-3)

The Braves had won seven straight until they dropped the final two games of last week's series to JSerra. They'll take on No. 1 Orange Lutheran three times this week.

23. Arcadia (12-4)

The Apaches snapped their losing streak with two shutouts over Glendale last week. They'll take on Burroughs twice this week.

24. South Hills (12-3)

South Hills beat Wilson twice during the week and added a non-league win over Sunny Hills on Saturday.

25. Granite Hills (9-2)

The Eagles began league play with two wins over Grossmont last week. Hawaii-signee Grant MacArthur had a combined five hits and three home runs over the two game stretch.
