Dylan Lina's two RBI's lead St. John Bosco to 3-1 win over Tesoro

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. -- Just in time for the home stretch of the regular season, St. John Bosco shortstop Dylan Lina no longer feels any pain in his hamstring. That's bad news for opposing teams and Tesoro found that out on Wednesday. 

Lina, St. John Bosco's cleanup hitter, showed off his bat going 2-for-3 with two RBI's in the Braves' 3-1 road win over the Titans. 

"Today has been as fast as I've seen him move all year and he feels 100%," St. John Bosco head coach Don Barbara said. "It's carrying over to his swing and it's carrying over to his defense."

In the first inning, Lina hit a two RBI single and in the fourth inning, he fielded all three outs at shortstop.

"It feels great to be back," Lina said. 

On the mound, St. John Bosco received a strong outing from junior pitcher Dylan Proost in the game.

"Having Dylan throw four scoreless innings of four hit baseball was amazing for us," Barbara said. "He's been struggling a little bit, but today he jumped back into that saddle and that's going to help us."

Senior Michael Mulligan pitched the final three innings for the Braves allowing one run courtesy of a seventh inning sacrifice fly from Dylan Miner. 

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE PLAYOFFS

To earn an automatic bid into the playoffs, St. John Bosco will need to finish in the top three of the Trinity League. The team is currently in fourth place with series against Santa Margarita (third) and Servite (fifth) remaining on the schedule. The Braves won their 14th game of the season against Tesoro on Wednesday, which means even if they don't secure a top three league finish, they're eligible for an at-large postseason berth. 

Barbara and St. John Bosco desperately want a top three spot though. 

"We've just got to play our game," Barbara said.
