SBLive’s Southern Section Baseball Top 25: Corona moves up to No. 14 in latest CIFSS rankings

SBLive’s Southern Section high school baseball rankings are compiled by SBLive reporter Connor Morrissette and are released weekly throughout the season.

SBLIVE SOUTHERN SECTION TOP 25 BASEBALL RANKINGS

1. Orange Lutheran (18-3)

Last week: 1

The Lancers are 15-2 against teams from California this season.

2. Sierra Canyon (22-0)

Last week: 3

The Trailblazers enter the Boras Classic undefeated. If Sierra Canyon is undefeated at this time next week, they'll be the new No. 1 team in the Section. 

3. Yucaipa (16-4)

Last week: 2

Yucaipa walked off to beat No. 5 Harvard-Westlake 6-5 on Feb. 15. Last week, the Thunderbirds dropped a game to Citrus Valley 5-4, so they fall to No. 3 this week. 

4. JSerra (12-9)

Last week: 6

JSerra swept No. 7 Servite three weeks ago and took down No. 5 Harvard-Westlake 8-3 last Monday to move up to No. 4. 

5. Harvard-Westlake (15-6-1)

Last week: 4

Harvard-Westlake has won eight of its last nine Mission League games. The Wolverines can win the league title outright if they sweep their final two series against Alemany and Chaminade. 

6. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) (17-5-1)

Last week: 5

The Knights went 1-1-1 against No. 4 Harvard-Westlake in their series in March and since then, Notre Dame has won 13 of 15 Mission League games.

7. Servite (12-8)

Last week: 7

Servite swept Mater Dei last week to improve to 12-8 on the season. 

8. Villa Park (20-2)

Last week: 8

Villa Park is red hot. The Spartans have won 17 of their last 18 games.

9. Arlington (23-1)

Last week: 9

Arlington has won 23 games in a row. The Lions are a sure fire Division 2 title contender in the Southern Section. 

10. Huntington Beach (15-7)

Last week: 10

Huntington Beach lost its first Sunset Surf League game of the year to Fountain Valley 3-2 last week, but the Oilers still have a stranglehold on first place. 

11. Cypress (19-3-2)

Last week: 12

Cypress has won 15 of its last 16 games. The Centurions won the National Classic championship game 3-1 over Bishop Amat two weeks ago.

12. Santa Margarita (16-6)

Last week: 13

Santa Margarita went 3-1 in the National Classic two weeks ago. The lone loss came against No. 11 Cypress, 7-2.

13. Norco (20-4)

Last week: 15

Norco swept No. 14 Corona in three games two weeks ago. Last week, the Cougars took two of three games from Corona Centennial

14. Corona (14-7)

Last week: 23

Corona swept No. 16 King to make a big jump from No. 23 to No. 14 this week. 

15. Foothill (14-8)

Last week: 11

Foothill has dropped two straight, so the Knights come in at No. 15 this week. 

16. King (12-8)

Last week: 14

King dropped its first Big VIII series of the season in a sweep to No. 14 Corona last week. 

17. Hart (16-8)

Last week: 16

The Indians have beaten No. 6 Notre Dame this season and are 8-0 in the Foothill League.

18. Northview (16-4)

Last week: NR

Northview debuts this week. The Vikings have won 12 of their last 13 games in addition to beating No. 19 San Dimas twice this season. 

19. San Dimas (15-4)

Last week: 19

San Dimas has won seven of its last eight games. The Saints open Boras Classic play against No. 7 JSerra this week. 

20. South Hills (18-5)

Last week: 20

The Huskies went 2-2 in the National Classic tournament two weeks ago with losses to No. 11 Cypress and No. 19 San Dimas. 

21. St. John Bosco (14-8)

Last week: 21

St. John Bosco took down No. 24 Tesoro 3-1 last week. Senior Dylan Lina had two RBI's in the win. 

22. Calabasas (16-5)

Last week: NR

The Coyotes debut this week. Phoenix Call is hitting over .400 this season for Calabasas. 

23. Pacifica (Garden Grove) (16-7)

Last week: NR

Pacifica is back in the top 25 after winning three games in a row. This week, the Mariners begin a two game series with No. 11 Cypress. 

24. Tesoro (17-5)

Last week: 18

Tesoro drops to No. 24 after losing to No. 21 St. John Bosco 3-1 last week. On Saturday, Tesoro took down Los Alamitos 3-2. 

25. Torrance (19-3-1)

Last week: 25

The Tartars best wins this season have come against Warren and West Torrance. Torrance is in first place in the Pioneer League with a 5-1 record.
