Harvard-Westlake expects Toussaint Bythewood to return from injury in Southern Section baseball playoffs

Bythewood, a UCLA commit, was the Mission League player of the year last season.

When Harvard-Westlake senior Toussaint Bythewood injured his wrist diving for a fly ball earlier this month, there was a fear he'd miss the remainder of the season. But that's no longer the case, according to Wolverines' head coach Jared Halpert.

"He's not out for the year," Halpert said after Harvard-Westlake's 6-0 win over Chaminade on Monday. "It was a hairline in the wrist and we're making sure that we're doing right by him and he's going to make sure he's one-hundred percent before he gets back in. We expect to see him back in the lineup during playoffs."

That's great news for Harvard-Westlake fans and bad news for the other schools competing in the Division 1 Southern Section playoffs, which begin next week.

Bythewood, a UCLA commit, started in center field land batted third last season for the Wolverines. He hit .431, had 10 stolen bases and was named Mission League player of the year.
