Kalib LaCount, SBLive's 2021-22 LA City Section boys basketball Player of the Year, signed with East Carolina University on Thursday. He made the announcement on social media.
LaCount averaged a whopping 33.5 points per game for the Golden Eagles last season. He led King/Drew to the school’s first ever Open Division championship appearance, a 76-64 loss to Fairfax. In the title game setback, LaCount led all scorers in the game with 33 points including a 15 point third quarter.
LaCount also averaged 6.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4.2 steals per game last year.
"He's the best guard in the City," King/Drew head coach Lloyd Webster said after a Golden Eagles' non-league win over Hamilton in January.
