Piedmont Hills softball SS Isabella Paskert voted SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Piedmont Hills softball shortstop Isabella Paskert for being voted SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week for April 18-24!

The sophomore went 6-7 with two home runs and two triples in two games last week, driving in four runs and coming around to score four times.

Paskert ran away with this week's honor, receiving 70.31% of the total vote. There were over 10,000 votes tallied this week!

BASEBALL:

Will Gagnon, Reedley:

In a two-game sweep of Hoover (Fresno), Gagnon not only threw a one-hit shutout but also hit 6-7 with two home runs, three RBIs, and a walk to score four runs.

Gus Toffinelli, Calaveras:

Toffinelli went off for two home runs, a double, and nine RBIs hitting 7-9 in two games.

Darrell Mays, Berkeley:

Mays hit a perfect 6-6 with three doubles and a walk and scored five times in a two-game sweep of Castro Valley.

Andrew Hutcheson, Elk Grove:

Hutcheson threw six scoreless innings in a win and hit 5-9 with a homer, a triple, a double, three walks, three RBIs, and five runs scored as the Thundering Herd went 3-0.

Evan Bilter, Foothill (Pleasanton):

Bilter went 8-11 at the plate with a long ball, two doubles, and five RBIs for the 2-1 Falcons.

Rylan Giovannoni, Sutter:

Giovannoni tossed a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in five innings against Rio Vista, and also went 3-10 at-bat with three walks, scoring five times and driving in two runs in four games.

Jake Harvey, Woodcreek:

Harvey hit 6-8 with a home run, a triple, a walk, and four RBIs for the 2-0 Timberwolves, and scored three runs.

Alex Herrera, Linden:

Herrera helped lead the Lions to a 4-0 week by throwing seven scoreless innings with 15 strikeouts across two games and hitting 9-14 with four RBIs.

Nathan Baeza, Central (Fresno):

Baeza helped guide the Grizzlies to a three-game sweep of Clovis West hitting 5-10 with a home run, two walks, and four RBIs. He scored four runs for Central and also got a win on the mound, allowing two hits and one run in six innings.

Andrew Curtan, West Park:

In a three-game sweep of Rio Linda, Curtan threw a complete game shutout and hit 6-9 with six RBIs and five runs scored.

Diego Castellanos, Live Oak (Morgan Hill):

Castellanos helped lead the Acorns to a 3-0 week with a one-hit shutout against Bellarmine and a batting line of 6-12 with four doubles, three RBIs, and three runs scored.

Nate Medina, Liberty:

Medina hit 5-7 with three RBIs to help lead the Hawks to a 2-0 week against Washington Union.

Brett Neidlinger, Windsor:

Neidlinger helped lead the Jaguars to a 3-0 record hitting 6-8 with two walks and scoring six runs.

Caleb Gillem, Bishop Union:

Gillem went 5-7 with five RBIs and two walks, scoring six times in two wins for the Broncos.

Jace Gillmore, Whitney (Rocklin):

Gillmore batted 4-8 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs as the Wildcats took two games out of three against Rocklin, and also threw a complete game four-hitter with just one run allowed in a win.

Michael Santos-LaPlaca, Kennedy (Sacramento):

Santos-LaPlaca hit 6-8 with two walks and six RBIs and scored five times as the Cougars went 2-1.

Blake Schaaf, Head-Royce:

Schaaf batted 5-6 with three walks, a homer, a triple, a double, and six RBIs in two games, and came around to score four times.

Anthony Keola, Florin:

Keola batted 6-8 with three extra-base hits and two walks, driving in three runs and scoring six times in three games.

Evan Williams, Branham:

Williams hit 5-11 with two homers and four RBIs, scored all five times for the 3-0 Bruins, and also pitched eight scoreless innings across two appearances.

Thomas Crawford, Lincoln (San Jose):

Crawford hit 6-9 with eight RBIs, scored five runs, and pitched three perfect innings with eight K's and a win to help lead the Lions to a 3-0 record.

Isaiah Martin, Gunderson:

Martin went 7-10 with four extra-base hits, four RBIs, and four runs scored for the 2-1 Grizzlies.

Trent Toole, Stevenson:

Toole hit 9-12 with two walks and seven RBIs and scored nine times as the Pirates went 2-1.

Michael J Ryan, Gridley:

In a two-game sweep of Oroville, Ryan batted 5-7 with two walks and five RBIs scoring five runs, and also threw three hitless innings to combine with Aden Brothers for a no-hitter.

SOFTBALL:

Braxton Brown, Benicia:

Brown guided the Panthers to a pair of lopsided wins by throwing a complete game shutout against Alhambra and five innings with one run allowed against Rodriguez, and also batting 4-6 with a homer, a double, and four RBIs.

Jena Emerson, Live Oak (Live Oak):

Emerson dominated in a two-game sweep of Pierce, throwing a complete game shutout and batting 6-7 with three doubles, four RBIs, and five runs scored.

Alena Johnson, Loyalton:

In the Grizzlies' only game last week, Johnson threw a no-hitter and hit 2-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs to lead Loyalton to a 6-0 win against North Valleys.

Jessica Oakland, Saint Francis (Mountain View):

Oakland hit 4-4 with three home runs, three walks, and six RBIs in two blowout wins.

Imani Black, Sheldon:

Black hit 10-15 with four homers, five doubles, and a whopping 15 RBIs, and scored nine runs to help lead the Huskies to a 4-1 record.

Peja Goold, Lincoln (Stockton):

In four appearances, Goold pitched 25.1 innings including a no-hitter against West (Tracy), and allowed just two earned runs while amassing 52 K's. She also hit 3-11 with three RBIs on the week.

Sophia Wolmar, Mt. Shasta:

In a two-game sweep of Trinity, Womar hit 8-9 with seven RBIs and scored eight times.

Aissa Silva, Elk Grove:

In five starts last week, Silva threw 27.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs while striking out 40. She registered a no-hitter against Dublin, and also went 5-16 with three extra-base hits at the plate.

Hannah Schaller, Tracy:

Schaller went 3-0 and allowed just two earned runs in 18.1 innings, striking out 31, and throwing a perfect game against Bear Creek.

Cheyenne Matyshock, Sonora:

In a two-game sweep of Amador, Matyshock hit 4-5 with three home runs and drew a pair of walks.

Emily Thurman, Willows:

Thurman led the Honkers to a 3-0 week hurling complete games in each contest, and three earned runs in 20 innings to 37 strikeouts. She also hit 5-8 with a home run, a triple, three walks, four RBIs, and five runs scored.

Ainsley Waddell, Sequoia:

Waddell tossed complete game victories against Capuchino and Hillsdale with just one run allowed, and also hit 3-6 with two extra-base hits and scored twice.

Katie Marsh, Lassen:

In three games, Marsh batted 7-8 with five walks and four extra-base hits, coming around to score five times.

Ryan Maddox, Clovis North:

Maddox threw complete games in wins against Clovis and Central (Fresno), giving up two runs and no runs, respectively. She totaled 28 strikeouts and also batted 5-8 with three runs scored.

Kameryn Cordova, Fowler:

Cordova went 5-8 with two home runs and a double, driving in four runs in two games.

Jordan Woolery, Clayton Valley Charter:

Woolery helped lead the Ugly Eagles to a pair of blowout wins hitting 5-6 with two doubles and five RBIs.

Emme Young, Acalanes:

Young went 5-6 with four RBIs and scored three runs in two games.
