Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Northern California High School Athlete of the Week for April 25-May 1 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Sunday at 11:59 p.m and the winner will be announced Monday, May 9. SOFTBALL:

Jordyn Wurzer, West Valley:

Wurzer batted a staggering 13-14 with a home run, nine doubles, and nine runs scored in a dominant three-game sweep of Central Valley.

Samantha Rocha, Notre Dame (Salinas):

Rocha pitched a perfect game with 16 strikeouts against Christopher and three scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a win against Gilroy.

Gianna Tasio, Terra Nova:

Tasio hit a perfect 4-4 with a home run, three doubles, a walk, five RBIs, and four runs scored for the 2-0 Tigers, and also threw three scoreless, hitless innings with strikeouts for all nine outs.

Mariah Ayala, Granada (Livermore):

Ayala hit 7-10 with a homer, scored eight times, and notched four RBIs in a dominant 3-0 week for the Matadors.

Anna Bean, Los Gatos:

Bean guided the Wildcats to a 3-0 record hitting 7-11 with a home run, a triple, two doubles, and six RBIs while also throwing 12 innings with no earned runs allowed and 17 strikeouts.

Jazlyn Alcantar, Encinal:

Alcantar helped lead the Jets to a 2-0 week hitting 5-6 with four RBIs.

KC Cruz, Mt. Pleasant:

Cruz hit 7-8 with five extra-base hits, seven RBIs, and five runs scored for the 2-0 Cardinals.

Taylor Rodriguez, Livermore:

Rodriguez threw seven-inning complete game shutouts in all three of Livermore's games last week.

Aissa Silva, Elk Grove:

In two wins for the Herd, Silva threw a one-hit shutout against Franklin (Elk Grove), threw three hitless, scoreless innings against Davis with 21 total strikeouts, and batted 5-9 with three extra-base hits and five RBIs.

Angie Rubalcava, Vintage:

Rubalcava threw three hitless innings in a win and combined no-hitter (with Shelby Morse) against Justin-Siena. She also hit 4-9 with a walk, two home runs, and a triple, scored all five times she reached base and drove in four RBIs in two games.

Danielle Koo, Menlo-Atherton:

Koo pitched a one-hit shutout with 12 K's and batted 6-7 with seven RBIs as the Bears went 2-0.

Kira Morris, Eureka:

In four games, all wins, Morris tossed a no-hitter and another complete game shutout and hit 5-9 with nine RBIs.

Alena Johnson, Loyalton:

Johnson guided the Grizzlies to a 3-0 week batting 6-9 with four doubles and five walks, eight RBIs, and nine runs scored.

Jamie Hicks, Archbishop Mitty:

Hicks hit 6-10 with a homer, five RBIs, and four runs scored for the 3-0 Monarchs.

BASEBALL:

Ian Guanzon, Pleasant Valley (Chico):

Guanzon helped power the Vikings to a three-game sweep of Enterprise hitting 8-11 with a long ball, five total extra-base hits, eight RBIs, and four runs scored.

Aaron Martinez, Le Grand:

Martinez went a perfect 5-5 with four doubles, six RBIs, and three runs scored to help lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 sweep of Gustine.

Emmanuel Frias, Colusa:

Frias hit 5-7 with two walks and four RBIs, stole three bases and scored three runs as the RedHawks swept East Nicolaus in two games.

Nathan Baeza, Clovis West:

Baeza helped lead the Golden Eagles to a three-game sweep of Clovis East batting 5-9 with four RBIs and throwing a complete game victory with just one run allowed and 11 K's.

Landon Rota, Cardinal Newman:

Rota tossed six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts and went 3-3 at the plate in two wins against Rancho Cotate,

Gavin McClendon, Whitney (Rocklin):

In three wins against Del Oro, McClendon hit 3-7 with two walks, drove in two runs and scored three times, and threw six innings with no earned runs allowed and 11 K's for a win.

Julian Espinoza, Turlock Christian:

Espinoza hit 5-6 with a home run, a double, six RBIs, two steals, and five runs scored in two routs of Stone Ridge Christian.

Easton Kreshel, Valley Christian (San Jose):

Kreshel went 6-11 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs as the Warriors went 3-0.

Adam Delgado, Kerman:

Delgado hit 4-7 with two extra-base hits, two walks, five RBIs, and five runs scored in a two-game sweep of Sierra (Tollhouse). 

Isaiah Landry, Clayton Valley Charter:

Landry hit 4-7 with two doubles and drove in seven runs in a pair of wins.
