SBLive’s San Diego Section Baseball Top 10: Granite Hills finishes the regular season at No. 1

The Eagles shutout Santana 11-0 to close out the regular season and were awarded the No. 1 seed in the Open Division playoffs.

SAN DIEGO SECTION TOP 10 BASEBALL RANKINGS

1. Granite Hills (21-5)

Granite Hills went 1-1 in the final week, shutting out No. 10 Santana to close out the Grossmont Hills League schedule. They'll host eight-seed Helix in round one of the Open Division playoffs.

2. La Costa Canyon (19-9)

La Costa Canyon took down Rancho Bernardo 1-0 and beat San Marcos 6-3 in a makeup game from earlier in the season. They are the two-seed in the Open Division and will host Madison in round one.

3. Madison (20-8)

Madison took two of three games from Point Loma, losing the middle game 10-8 in extra innings, to capture the Western League championship. As the seven-seed in the Open Division playoffs, they'll head to La Costa Canyon in round one.

4. Torrey Pines (18-10)

The Falcons shutout Carlsbad 3-0 and combined with Rancho Bernardo's loss to La Costa Canyon were able to clinch the outright North County Coastal League title. They are the three-seed in the Open Division playoffs and will host San Marcos on Wednesday in round one.

5. Rancho Bernardo (18-10)

The Broncos dropped their final game of the regular season, 1-0, to No. 2 La Costa Canyon on Tuesday. They are seeded fourth in the Open Division and will host Santana in round one, looking for revenge after last season's loss to the Sultans in the playoffs.

6. Montgomery (19-6)

The Aztecs wrapped up the regular season two weeks ago. They earned the two-seed in the Division 2 playoffs and will have a first round bye while awaiting the winner of Mission Hills and Otay Ranch.

7. Helix (16-10)

The Highlanders went 2-1 in the final week of the regular season, just edging out St. Augustine for the final spot in the Open Division playoffs. They'll head to top-seeded Granite Hills on Wednesday.

8. Francis Parker (24-4)

Parker took two of three games from Santa Fe Christian to wrap up the Coastal League title. They are the top-seed in the Division 2 playoffs and will have a first round bye while awaiting the winner of Christian and Santa Fe Christian.

9. La Jolla Country Day (19-9)

The Torreys finished up league play two weeks ago and took down La Jolla on Monday in a non-league tune up. They were awarded the five-seed in Division 2 and will take on the winner of Monday's play-in game between Coronado and Southwest El Centro.

Santana sputtered down the stretch, losing six of their final seven games including all three last week. They'll head to Rancho Bernardo in round one of the Open Division playoffs, a rematch of last year's opening round matchup.
