SOCAL TOP STARS (May 16-21)

Jillian Albayati, Anaheim baseball: Albayati became the first girl to pitch in a Southern Section championship game on Saturday. She allowed one run over nine innings on the mound against Estancia.

Rodrick Pleasant, Serra track and field: Pleasant ran a 10.14 in the 100 meter dash at the Southern Section Masters Meet, setting a new state record.

Gunnar Nichols, Burroughs baseball: Nichols struck out ten batters from Moreno Valley and tossed a complete game in Friday's 1-0 victory in Division 5 Southern Section championship game.

Coleton Dahl, Tesoro baseball: Dahl threw six shutout innings, striking out 11 batters in Saturday's win over Fullerton in the Southern Section Division 4 championship game.

Joseph Steventon, Oaks Christian baseball: Steventon threw a complete game on Saturday to help the Lions beat La Quinta 1-0 in the Southern Section Division 3 championship game.

Zach Small, Oceanside baseball: Small threw a no-hitter, striking out 12 batters in Friday's playoff win over Valley Center.

Alex Seiff, Scripps Ranch baseball: Seiff went 4-4 with a double, home runs and seven runs batted in against Westview on Tuesday.

Peter Knorr, Carlsbad baseball: Knorr was 3-4 with a home run and three runs batted in against Point Loma in Tuesday's play-in game.

Nico Newhan, Maranatha Christian baseball: Newhan had seven hits including two home runs to help the Eagles capture three playoff wins last week.

Johnny Luetzow, La Jolla Country Day baseball: Luetzow went 3-3 with a home run, double, stolen base and five runs batted in against Southwest El Centro.

Devon Carr, Kearny baseball: Carr went 4-5 with a double, triple, and three runs batted in against Bayfront Charter in Monday's play-in game.

Charlie Mirer, Cathedral Catholic baseball: Mirer hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the 13th inning on Saturday to help the Dons take down Poway, 6-4.

Jordan Mahan, Mar Vista baseball: Mahan had six hits including a home run to help the Mariners go 3-0 in the playoffs last week.

Hugo Tafoya, Southwest El Centro baseball: Tafoya tossed a complete game shutout in Monday's play-in game against Coronado, striking out 11 batters.

Kassandra Gewecke, Temple City softball: Gewecke tossed a complete game and had an RBI single on Friday's win over Moorpark for the Southern Section Division 4 championship.

Alondra Dominguez, Kennedy softball: Dominguez had two doubles and a home run in Tuesday's 9-3 win over Carson.

Camryn Fritz, El Camino Real softball: Fritz had a single double, triple and three runs batted in against San Pedro last week.

Rayne Corona, Chavez softball: Corona hit two home runs in Tuesday's 4-2 win over San Fernando.

Geneva Molina, Bishop Union softball: Molina had a triple and a home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Golden Valley.

Priscila Ortiz, Farmersville softball: Ortiz had five hits and a walk in Wednesday's 17-8 victory over Lone Pine.
