Anaheim baseball pitcher Jillian Albayati commits to Cal State San Marcos softball

Albayati tweeted out the news on Sunday.

Anaheim senior Jillian Albayati, the first girl in the history of the Southern Section to pitch in a championship baseball game, announced that she has committed to play softball at Cal State San Marcos. Albayati tweeted out the news on Sunday.

Albayati got the start for Anaheim in the Division 6 Southern Section baseball title game against Estancia. She pitched nine innings allowing one run on eight hits in a 2-1 defeat that ended in the 11th inning. Coming into the game, Albayati was 11-0 with a 1.68 ERA.

"This proves that girls can go out there and really compete," Albayati said following her historic performance.

Back in May at the time of the championship game, Albayati was still weighing her collegiate options.

"I'm trying to get recruited for baseball or softball," she said.

At the end of the recruiting process, Albayati decided to pledge to Cal State San Marcos softball.

"Thank you to my family and all my coaches that have helped me get to where I am today," Albayati wrote in her commitment tweet.
