De La Salle vs. California High School football live stream: How to watch, get live score updates online

Watch and follow live as two of the East Bay Athletic League's best battle in De La Salle's first league game of the season

De La Salle is coming off of a pair of back-to-back losses, and things won't get any easier for the Spartans Friday as they begin league play this week on the road against the California Grizzlies

It's been almost exactly a year (355 days) since De La Salle hosted California the last time these two teams met, but you can just about guarantee the Grizzlies haven't forgotten the 52-14 beatdown the Spartans laid on them last year.

California currently sits atop the East Bay Athletic League standings at 1-0, but a De La Salle win this week would land the Spartans in first place and holding the tiebreaker over the Grizzlies if that comes into play down the road.

This game has all the makings of a great matchup, and you don't want to miss it. Thankfully, you don't have to.

De La Salle (3-3) has more state championships (seven) than any other school in the 15-year history of the CIF playoffs, but the Spartans are off to their worst start to a season since 2004.

The good news is that none of their losses have been in league play, and that 2004 team still went on to win the North Coast Section Championship that year.

It is easy to look at the Spartans' three losses on the season and think they might not be the dominant power they once were, but it's important to note that two of those losses were heartbreaking 24-21 defeats, and all three of them came against opponents with a combined 19-1 record.

They have lost back-to-back games, but enter this week with a chance to right the ship in their first league game of the season.

California High School (5-1) lost to Pittsburg on September 9, but has looked fairly dominant in all its other games.

Except for a thrilling 36-35 win over Antioch, the Grizzlies have notched double-digit margins of victory in their four other wins, and have won three of those matchups by at least 24 points.

Now, they will have a chance to stick it to a De La Salle team that smoked them last season.

One team wants to return the beatdown they were handed the last time these two met. The other needs to get its season on the right track. Which will come out on top?

Don't wait until Monday to find out.
