Palisades' Taylor Arnold and Elise Arnold voted by fans as L.A. City Section girls basketball co-Players of the Year

The Arnold twins will play at Emerson College following their decorated high school careers at Palisades

Last week, we asked you, the fans, who you thought should be the 2022-23 Player of the Year in CIFLACS girls basketball.

And the results were sister-themed.

Fittingly, Palisades senior forwards and Emerson College commits Taylor and Elise Arnold – who are identical twins – received an identical vote count of 7,246 votes, which tied them for first. That likely marks the first tie for first place in SBLive California fan vote history. Taylor was named the MVP runner-up of the Western League and Elise was also First Team All-Western League despite dealing with injuries for much of the season.

In third place was Westchester senior guard Rylei Waugh, who amassed 4,724 votes after leading the Lady Comets to an Open Division championship. The section voted her as its co-MVP, and she recently became the only player to ever be named to SBLive's All-LACS teams four times.

After Rylei Waugh was her sister Reigne Waugh, who received 1,753 votes after breaking out as a starter and clutch shooter as a sophomore for Westchester.

Rounding out the top five with 332 votes was Mayo Sano, who averaged 9.2 points, 3.4 steals, and 1.9 assists per game for Division 1 finalist Los Angeles CES as a senior.
