Watch: Rodrick Pleasant breezes to top 100 trials time at 10.36 in CIF State Track and Field trials

Watch all four heats with El Cerrito's Robert Stitts, South Torrance's Anthony Flowers and Long Beach Jordan's Jordan Washington also winning

Rodrick Pleasant is whom many of the 8,000 fans paid to see in Friday's CIF Track and Field State trials at Veteran's Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School in Clovis.

Pleasant didn't disappoint, cruising to victory in the first heat of the 100 meters, winning in 10.36 seconds, well ahead of surprise runner-up Andrew Fu of Harker, who crossed in 10.59 out of lane 9.

Pleasant, hoping to become just the fourth sprinter in the 103-year history of the meet to double in the 100 and 200 years in a row, eased up five meters from the finish line. It was well off his state-record time of 10.14.

Other heat winners were El Cerrito's Robert Stitts (10.50), South Torrance's Anthony Flowers (10.52) and Long Beach Jordan's Jordan Washington (10.53).

Other qualifiers for the finals were Clovis North's Nickolas Miller (10.53), Simi Valley's Jaelon Barbarin (10.57), Riordan's Zachary Jones (10.58) and Granada Hills' Jordan Coleman (10.60).

The state finals are Saturday with field events starting at 4 p.m. and running races at 6.
