Look: Donovan Cornelius, Los Angeles CES upset Chatsworth in wild City Section semifinal

Cornelius had team-highs of 16 points and eight rebounds plus a game-high eight assists

TORRANCE, Calif. - Game of the year? Perhaps.

Ending of a lifetime? Definitely.

LACES knocked off Chatsworth 52-49 on Saturday at El Camino College for a shot at its first ever L.A. City Section Open Division title.

Donovan Cornelius cooked, Ian Hunter set the tone with outside shooting, and Ryan Conner drained two threes in the final 3.8 seconds of the game to lift the Unicorns past star sophomore Alijah Arenas (19 points, 16 rebounds, three assists) and the heavily-favored Chancellors. 

Cornelius went for 16 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, Hunter hit four threes en-route to 14 points, and Conner totaled 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, with all three contributing two steals as well. Yasin Sharif registered eight points, five rebounds, and three steals, and Emmanuel Duru added two points, six rebounds, and four blocks.

In addition to Arenas, Chatsworth was led by Nasir Jones (10 points, three assists), TJ Phillips (nine points, 11 rebounds), Salomon Torres (eight points, five rebounds, four assists), and Taj Unuakhalu (three points, 14 rebounds, four blocks).
