Highlights: Alijah Arenas, son of Gilbert Arenas, scores 53 points in CIF State playoff game

Alijah Arenas drops 53 points, topping his father's prep career-high of 50

Chatsworth High is one win away from playing in the CIF State Division IV final in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings.

Alijah Arenas, the sophomore son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, scored 53 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Chatsworth's 74-69 regional semifinal win over Washington Prep Saturday night.

Alijah was 15 of 26 from 2-point territory and 2 of 5 from the 3-point line. He could've scored more, but missed nine free throws, going 17 of 26 from the charity stripe.

The 53-point mark is the second-most points he's scored in a game. He scored 56 in a game last year as a freshman. Gilbert Arenas' high school career-high was 50, according to Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times. Gilbert Arenas was a standout at Grant High.

Alijah will need to help the Chancellors beat Cleveland High in the regional final at home Tuesday night. Cleveland has already defeated Chatsworth twice this season.

The winner of Tuesday's matchup will advance to the CIF State final on March 8-9.

The long, wiry guard is already rated a 5-star recruit with offers to Arizona, UCLA and Kansas.

Arenas is averaging 36 points per game in the CIF State playoffs.
