Miami Christian beats St. John Neumann to advance to FHSAA 2A girls basketball state championship
Sophomore guard Samantha Vales led the Lady Victors with 16 points and 2 assists
The Miami Christian Victors have reached the Class 2A Florida high school girls basketball state championship game for the second year in a row with a wire-to-wire 68-47 win over St. John Neumann on Wednesday.
As soon as the Celtics could find momentum, the Victors responded with a run of their own. Sophomore guard Samantha Vales led the Lady Victors with 16 points and 2 assists. Senior guard Victoria Aranguren added 13 points.
The Celtics were led by sophomore forward Sophia McCartney who finished with a game-high 22 points and 20 rebounds. Senior forward Leah Martin-Gonzales added 15 points.
The Victors largest lead reached 25 points, which occurred late in the third quarter. The Celtics never led.
