It has been two weeks since Mike White left Florida to become the new head men’s basketball coach at the University of Georgia.

Last week, Montverde Academy 5-star forward Malik Reneau announced on his social media accounts that he was decommitting from the University of Florida.

“First and foremost I’d like to thank the #GatorNation for all the love and support they have given me. With everything transpired at the University of Florida, I have decided to reopen my recruitment process," Reneau posted on social media.

Reneau, is the No. 22 prospect in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports and the fourth ranked prospect out of the state of Florida. He originally had Memphis, Miami and Florida State among his final four.

Reneau had been committed to the Gators since early November. With former University of San Francisco coach Todd Golden now on board in Gainesville we'll see if he can reel Reneau back in.

The Gators now currently stand at just two commits for this year’s 2022 class: Dr. Phillips (Orlando) guard Denzel Aberdeen and SoCal Academy forward Jalen Reed.
