Creed Whittemore commits to Florida Gators; Buchholz (Gainesville) 2023 athlete will join older brother

Just one hour after landing 4-star in-state offensive lineman Knijeah Harris, the Florida Gators football program picked up another key in-state prospect on Saturday.

Buchholz (Gainesville) 3-star athlete Creed Whittemore announced he is staying home to play college football at the University of Florida, where his older brother Trent is entering his junior season. Whittemore made the announcement on social media.

According to 247Sports’ Whittemore is the No. 33 athlete in the nation and the No. 78 overall prospect in the state of Florida.

Whittemore held offers from Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Michigan and several others during his recruiting process.

“I wanted to explore all my options before finding the right fit,” Whittemore said. “I have a lot of respect for Coach (Napier) and his staff, and I look forward to them developing me when I get to campus."

Last season, Whittemore threw for 2,101 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions, leading the Bobcats to a 12-2 record. They lost in the FHSAA state semifinals to eventual Class 7A champion St. Thomas Aquinas.

Not only is Whittemore a standout on the football field, but he is also a standout athlete on the track. He ran 10.85 in the 100-meter dash earlier this week.

With the latest commitment, Whittemore joins Trinity Christian Academy (Georgia) 4-star athlete Aaron Gates, IMG Academy four-star offensive lineman Knijeah Harris and Eustis three-star wide receiver Tyree Patterson as the four Florida Gator commits so far in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
