Congratulations to South Lake softball infielder Destiny Johns for being voted SBLive’s Florida High School Athlete of the Week for May 16-22!
The sophomore drove in two runs and went 2-of-3 at the plate back on May 19, in a 4-2 win over River Ridge.
Johns ran away with this week's honor, receiving 63.48% of the total vote.

Stephanie Basso, Catcher (Coral Springs Charter)- Sophomore
The sophomore catcher went 3-for-3 and drove in eight runs back on May 17, in a 16-1 win over Westminster Christian.
Jaleigha Harris, Infielder (University Christian)- Sophomore
Harris drove in four runs back on May 17, in a 11-0 win over Aucilla Christian.
Gwendolen McGinnis, Pitcher (Lincoln)- Senior
McGinnis pitched a complete-game 3-hit shutout back on May 17, in a 2-0 win over Gulf Breeze.

Garrett Smith, Pitcher (Eau Gallie)- Junior
Smith pitched a two-hit shutout in their state semifinal game on May 19, in a 6-0 win over Columbia (Lake City).
Byron McLain, Shortstop (Bozeman)- Senior
McLain drove in four runs in their state semifinal game on May 18, in a 8-4 win over Dixie County.
Robert Rodriguez, Outfielder (Doral Academy)- Junior
Rodriguez drove in three runs in the regional final game on May 17, in a 10-0 win over Dwyer.
Justin Allen, Catcher (Sickles)- Junior
Allen drove in four runs in their regional final game on May 17, in a 5-0 win over Strawberry Crest.
Jake Clemente, Pitcher (Stoneman Douglas)- Senior
Clemente allowed one hit and struck out ten batters back on May 20, in a 4-1 win over Hagerty in the state semifinals.
Chris Arroyo, Outfielder (Stoneman Douglas)- Senior
Arroyo drove in three runs in the state championship game on May 21, in a 10-0 win over Palm Beach Gardens.
