College football recruiting, like the weather down in Florida, is heating up throughout the state and the Tampa Bay Area has some of the hottest prospects still looking at their options. As many Class of 2023 players are still very much up in the air about where they will be playing ball come fall of 2023, we put together a top 10 list of the top senior prospects out of the Tampa Bay Area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando counties).

1. Keon Keeley, Berkeley Prep, DE: At 6-foot-6, 242 pounds, Keeley is already committed to Notre Dame and is nationally one of the top players in the country at defensive end. Keeley racked up 61 tackles, 34 went for a loss and 16.5 sacks in 2021 for the Buccaneers.

2. Troy Bowles, Jesuit, LB: Son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowles, Troy has made quite the name for himself playing linebacker for the Tigers. Georgia is hot on his trail after Bowles notched 103 tackles for the 2021 state champion Jesuit.

3. Dijon Johnson, Wharton, DB: One of the top hawks in all of the area, Johnson has great size and speed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. The Wildcat has already committed to the Ohio State University.

4. Eugene Wilson III, Gaither, ATH: Wilson III can do it at wide receiver and defensive back, so he labels as a athlete. The Cowboys’ 2-way star had 925 yards receiving on offense and four interceptions on defense. Wilson III is looking hard at the University of Florida.

5. Lucas Simmons, Clearwater Academy International, OT: Plenty of colleges have come rolling through Clearwater to see the 6-foot-7, 300-pound Simmons. The offensive tackle has yielded offers from Florida, Florida State, University of Southern California and Auburn to name a few.

6. Isaiah Nixon, Lakewood, DE: The University of Florida commitment will get to add some size on when he gets to college, but is a speed rusher creating havoc off the edge. He stands 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and is amongst the top 50 players in the state.

7. Bryson Rodgers, Wiregrass Ranch, WR: Rodgers is a Ohio State commitment and received a lot of buzz last summer. In his junior campaign, Rodgers caught 42 passes for 645 yards and scored 14 touchdowns for the Bulls.

8. Lewis Carter, Tampa Catholic, LB: The hard hitting linebacker is the heart and soul of Tampa Catholic’s defense. At 6-foot, 200 pounds, Carter racked up 66 tackles his junior season and holds offers from Auburn, Arizona State, Clemson and Oklahoma.

9. Nate Johnson III, Clearwater Central Catholic, ATH: The Boston College commitment was a playmaker on offense and on defense for the Marauders, as Johnson caught 48 passes for 915 yards and helped out on defense with 13 tackles. He’s one of the most versatile players in Pinellas County.

10. Clay Wedin, Carrollwood Day School, OL: When the Patriots wanted to run the ball, they looked to get behind the big body of Wedin. At 6-foot-6, 295 pounds, the senior offensive lineman is committed to Michigan State already for what will be a loaded Carrollwood Day program.
