Richard Young, Florida 5-star running back, commits to Alabama Crimson Tide over Oregon, Georgia
LEHIGH ACRES, FLORIDA – It came down to three schools for LeHigh Acres running back Richard Young and he made his selection just before the weekend kicked itself off.
The nation’s No. 1 rated running announced via Twitter that he was picking the University of Alabama over Oregon and Georgia. Young had narrowed down to just three schools recently before coming to a decision before his senior season.
Young becomes the 16th commitment for the Crimson Tide in the Class of 2023, joining Buford High School (GA) running back Justice Haynes. Now with his college decision made, Young will head into Aug. 1st’s practice on Monday with his commitment to the Crimson Tide in hand.
Young had himself a stellar junior season with the Lightning, rushing for 1,755 yards on 196 carries (9.0 yards per carry) and scored 19 touchdowns. In his sophomore season at LeHigh, Young rushed for 982 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
Young and LeHigh Acres heads into the 2022 regular season with high expectations after reaching the Class 7A playoffs last year. The Lightning kickoff the season on August 26th on the road when they face the Naples Golden Eagles.
