THIS WEEK’S FLORIDA COACH OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Editor’s Note: Our Coach of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. However, we do not allow votes that are generated by script, macro or other automated means. Athletes that receive votes generated by script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified.

Tanner Jones, Port St. Joe: Jones and Tiger Sharks heard the talk leading into the rivalry game versus their rival Blountstown and they responded. His Port St. Joe group shutdown the vaunted Blountstown run game in a 24-6 victory.

Mike Smith, Plantation American Heritage: If it wasn’t for a loss to Chaminade-Madonna, this Plantation American Heritage bunch would be undefeated. Saturday was another reason to believe the Patriots will be competing for a state championship when they shutdown Cardinal Gibbons in a 21-2 win.

Kevin Pettis, Chiles: When you see a matchup between a 1-4 team versus a 4-1 club, you think mismatch. The Timberwolves were never outmatched against the Mosley Dolphins as Pettis’ team pulled off the stunning 28-21 win at home.

Barry Klees, Wakulla: Staring at a tied 14-14 game after regulation, Klees was able to guide his team through overtime to upend Rickards. Wakulla improved to 5-1 on the year when the slightly edged Rickards 21-20.

Tim ‘Ice’ Harris, Booker T. Washington: The Tornadoes are another team that if not for one loss against one of the country’s top programs, Booker T. Washington would be undefeated. Harris has the Tornadoes at 4-1 after guiding them to a dominant 36-15 win over Jackson.

Grant Thompson, Niceville: With the Eagles’ undefeated season on the line, Thompson and his staff found a way to navigate and find a way to go 6-0. Despite going scoreless for the better part of over three quarters, Thompson led Niceville to a come-from-behind 13-9 win over rival Crestview.

Michael Bailey, Blanche Ely: Restoring the roar is the saying for Bailey’s Tigers and they’ve done just that this season. Blanche Ely is now 5-0 after picking up a dominant 30-12 victory over previously undefeated Fort Lauderdale on Friday night.

Brent Hill, North Florida Christian: The feeling of beating your rival is good, but to completely blow them out of the water feels that much better. That’s what Brent Hill and North Florida Christian felt when they won the ‘Battle For Meridian Road’ with a 58-7 victory over Maclay.
