Week 7 Monday night Florida high school football rewind

East Lake scores 27 unanswered points to defeat Steinbrenner; Merritt Island hands Eau Gallie first loss of the season

Hurricane Ian forced a slew of games to get games to get moved from last week on over to Monday night for many areas of the state. Last night featured games being played from Jacksonville over to Tampa Bay and down south in West Palm Beach and Miami areas as well. There was plenty of great action that took place all throughout the state of Florida and we’ve got all the scores and picked out a few games that stood out in Week 7 action.

The Gulf Buccaneers are now winners of four in a row.

The Gulf Buccaneers are now winners of four in a row.

East Lake 55, Steinbrenner 54: Down 54-28 at one point in the game, things looked very bleak for the East Lake Eagles on the road against the Steinbrenner Warriors. Despite the situation, the Eagles stormed back with 27 unanswered points to pull off the stunning come-from-behind victory against the Warriors. Down 54-28 in the third quarter, the Eagles battled back to pickup win No. 5 on the season.

Calvary Christian 42, Berkeley Prep 10: The Warriors made their statement last night that they are coming for a district championship in Class 2A-Metro, District 7 championship. Calvary Christian made sure to send that message to Berkeley Prep as they rolled to a 31-point victory at ‘The Rock’. Calvary Christian quarterback Jacob Drackett connected with Sean Cuono on a touchdown pass that gave the Warriors a 14-0 lead and eventually were up 21-10 by halftime.

Eastside 14, North Marion 6: In a Alachua County vs. Marion County matchup, the Rams were able to get by the Colts in a defensive matchup. North Marion came into the game as one of the hottest teams heading into Week 7 games, but Eastside had other ideas. Maurice Johnson scored on a fumble recovery and Daijon Johnson returned a kickoff return for a score.

Merritt Island 14, Eau Gallie 13: Up against an undefeated Eau Gallie team and coming off a disappointing 20-6 loss to Palm Bay Heritage in their last outing the Mustangs came back with a vengeance. Merritt Island got a strong defensive effort en route to handing Eau Gallie its first loss of the season. The Mustangs have now improved to 3-2 through five games.

Gulf 47, Citrus 13: The Buccaneers took another step closer towards trying to win their first district championship in school history, blowing by the Hurricanes at Des Little Stadium. Up just 13-7 at halftime, Gulf went on a big run in the second half and out-scored Citrus 34-6 in the final two quarters.
