High school football returned to Southwest Florida in limited fashion on Friday.

Hurricane Ian tore through the region on Sept. 28, canceling school and sports for the next week. That means Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties had their entire Week 6 schedules canceled.

Collier County, where Naples is located, experienced flooding near the coast but avoided the full force of Ian. Schools reopened Thursday, and several football teams were able to play Friday.

In Lee and Charlotte counties, where the storm made landfall, the damage was much more severe. Many areas are still without power or water. As a result, schools have not reopened.

Schools in Lee and Charlotte will be closed next week, meaning no sports as the region continues to recover. However, teams could begin practicing.

As Collier County got back to football, here are the results from Week 7 on Friday, Oct. 7:

Naples 41, Barron Collier 24: The host Golden Eagles dominated the first half before Barron Collier came to live in the fourth quarter.

Naples (5-1) scored three touchdowns on its first seven plays, rolling up 218 yards and a 21-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. Kendrick Raphael had scoring runs of 69 and 79 yards, and Isaiah Augustave had a 55-yard TD.

The Eagles led 34-0 at halftime. Barron Collier (4-1) scored three touchdowns in the final 8 minutes, all thanks to quarterback Tommy Mooncotch. The senior threw two touchdowns and ran for another. Mooncotch also converted two 2-point tries.

Gulf Coast 42, Palmetto Ridge 0: Without their veteran quarterback, the Sharks earned a running-clock win with a strong defense and running game.

Gulf Coast (4-2) forced a turnover on the first play from scrimmage, then scored two plays later. Also in the first quarter, the Sharks' Chris Jimenez returned an interception for a touchdown. A.J. Lubin added rushing touchdowns of 23 and 30 yards.

Konner Barrett, in his fourth year starting at QB for Gulf Coast, was suspended by the FHSAA for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the previous game. The team's leading receiver Joseph Miller stepped in at quarterback. He rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Palmetto Ridge (1-4) lost its fourth straight game. The Bears have been outscored 179-8 in that time.

Immokalee 35, Okeechobee 21: Playing at home, the Indians continued their season of resurgence. With the win Immokalee, a former state champion, improves to 3-3 after going 2-14 the past two years.

The Indians rushed for more than 200 yards. The game was tied 7-7 in the first quarter, but Immokalee dominated the rest of the way. Quarterback Trannon Villareal threw for 138 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 46 yards and a TD.

Freshman Justin Compete had a game-high 103 rushing yards for Immokalee.

Golden Gate 42, IMG Blue 21: The Titans had their best offensive showing of the season. As a reuslt, Golden Gate (3-3) won its second straight game and improved to .500 on the year.

Sophomore running back Trayvon Jean, already a breakout star this year, had one of the best rushing games in recent Collier County history. Jean carries 32 times for 341 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 10.7 yards per carry.

In his first varsity season, Jean has 935 yards in six games.

Jeffery Simpson caught two touchdown passes for Golden Gate.

St. John Neumann 45, Somerset Academy 0: The Celtics were dominant on both sides of the ball and moved their record past .500. Neumann (3-2) also won back-to-back games for the first time all season.

The Celtics rushed for 250 yards, led by Evan Odom with 79. Odom was the star of the night. He also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Stephen Sedio returned a fumble for a touchdown for the Celtics, who had two fumble recovery scores. Carson Floyd added 71 rushing yards for Neumann's balanced attack.
