Prospect Profile: Dimitry Nicolas, Monsignor Pace

MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA – Dimitry Nicolas is big on talent and stature. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman, from the Class of 2024, plays for Monsignor Pace High School in Miami Gardens.

Nicolas can play both defensive end or defensive tackle. His developed quickness and natural size makes him valuable at either position. He has helped anchor a defensive unit allowing 11.1 points per game (89 total) over eight contests.

Nicolas has totaled 23 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and six sacks. Furthermore, he has two or more stops behind the line of scrimmage in four of six listed games.

Against Dr. Krop, Nicolas collected 7 tackles with three sacks in a 30-0 victory. He also tallied three tackles for loss against Jacksonville Raines.

“I started playing football my freshman year of high school,” said Nicolas. “That is the first time I started playing tackle football. I never played football; I was more of a basketball kid. I also did things like volleyball and stuff like that.”

Some might consider Nicolas’ raw ability as a perceived level of upside. He has been stout upfront with less experience next to his counterparts. While he can overpower opponents with his natural strength, Nicolas is still developing by learning different techniques.

“I’m more of a run stopper,” said Nicolas. “Anytime they run, they’re not getting nothing on me. The attention is on me. Anytime you see double-teams, triple-teams it’s so my other teammates can eat. That’s what you would see.”

Two yards and a cloud of dust are all teams might hope for against Nicolas. His ability to line up inside has been aided by a weight gain of more than 40 pounds before his sophomore season. It could position Nicolas to be a three-technique or nose guard in college. His previous quickness from playing on the edge could be used to his advantage against interior offensive lineman. Overall, Nicolas is looking to improve in all areas on the defensive line before heading to college.

“My pass rush,” said Nicolas on his improvements. “I know I can stop the run. I’m very confident in my run stopping. But I would like to get more sacks and get faster. Also be able to get the quarterback; get receivers and anything like that."

Nicolas is 3-star recruit and 26th best defensive lineman in the 2024 class by 247 Sports. Overall, he is ranked as the 52nd best prospect in the junior class in Florida.

Nicolas is upgraded to a 4-star recruit by Rivals.com. His status could improve in the future considering this is only his third season of organized football. Moreover, he has rotated at different positions to this point of his career.

Nicolas holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Oregon, Syracuse and Texas A&M. He worked alongside current Aggie and 2022 5-star recruit Shemar Stewart on the defensive line as a sophomore.

“I talk to a couple of coaches,” said Nicolas. “I talk to people for Pittsburgh, Georgia and Florida. It’s all around."
