Plenty of former district champions returning back to their rightful place when it comes to winning titles. Two teams that come to mind immediately were Plant and East Lake returning to the district championship winner’s circle. The Panthers won their first district title since 2018 and the Eagles claimed its first since 2016. 

Both programs are looking to make a postseason run in Class 4A-Metro. Going around the area, Clearwater Central Catholic also locked themselves into a district title after cruising past Seffner Christian. Jesuit knocked off Hillsborough to win its respective district.

Week 10 Hillsborough & Pinellas Top performances 

Waltez Clark, Plant, running back: Clark rushed for 214 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Panthers blowout win over Alonso. Plant wins first district title since 2018. 

Jaquez Kindell, Plant, wide receiver: Kindell rushed for 148 yards on just four touches and also added 53 yards receiving. 

Christian Bodnar, Bloomingdale, running back: Bodnar rushed for 283 yards on 13 touches and scored touchdowns in a loss to East Bay. 

Jayce Nixon, Gaither, quarterback: Nixon completed 12-of-14 passes for 252 yards and seven touchdowns for the Cowboys against Leto. 

Joquez Smith, Jesuit, running back: The Tigers’ tailback rushed for 119 yards and scored a touchdown in the 35-9 win over Hillsborough. 

Greg Smith, Sumner, quarterback: Smith completed 14-of-23 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown in the Stingrays’ win over Newsome. 

Roman Hearns, Chamberlain, athlete: Chamberlain won its first game last week and rode the legs of Hearns. Hearns went for 143 yards on 17 attempts and a touchdown. 

Alex Daley, Durant, running back: The Durant running back rushed for 171 yards and scored a touchdown in the team’s win over Riverview. 

Ty Robinson, Steinbrenner, quarterback: Robinson completed 13-of-25 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in Steinbrenner’s win over Sickles. 

George Stamas, Tarpon Springs, quarterback: Stamas threw for just under 100 yards through the air and rushed for over 100 in the Spongers’ win over North Port. 

Luke Yoder, East Lake, running back: Yoder rushed for 168 yards on nine touches and scored twice against his former team, Palm Harbor University. East Lake wins first district crown since 2016. 

Caleb Coburn, East Lake, quarterback: Coburn did a little bit of everything, rushed for 44 yards, throwing for 104 and made eight tackles on defense. 

Austin Ho, Calvary Christian, wide receiver: The sophomore wide receiver caught two passes for 58 yards in the Warriors’ victory over Dunedin. Calvary Christian locked up a district championship. 

Jershaun Newton, Clearwater Central Catholic, quarterback: Newton completed 10-of-14 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the Marauders’ 63-6 win over Seffner Christian. 

Jayden Shelby-Cobbs, St. Petersburg, running back: The freshman running back rushed for 102 yards on 14 attempts and scored twice in the Green Devils win over Hollins.
