Class of 2025 top prospect Armondo Blount transfers to Miami Central from Dillard

MIAMI, Fla.- Lightning has struck again down in South Florida when it comes to big time transfers taking place. 

Dillard defensive end Armondo Blount has transferred to the Class 2M state champion Miami Central Rockets, according to Rivals.com’s Frank Tucker. Blount is coming off a huge sophomore campaign in which he finished with 16 sacks and 30 tackles for loss.

The Panthers finished 7-4 last season and were considered by some to be a darkhorse contender for the Class 3M state championship with the star-studded roster they featured. With Blount and a bevy of others, Dillard started off the season with a 35-0 win over Rock Creek Christian Academy before losing to Chaminade-Madonna. 

Dillard went on to lose to Miami Central, St. Thomas Aquinas in the regular season and then fell 19-14 to Blanche Ely in the Class 3M playoffs. Now Blount heads to the Class 2M state champion Rockets, that defeated Plantation American Heritage 38-31 last month at DRV PNK Stadium. 

Blount essentially becomes the replacement at defensive end for Miami Central in place of University of Miami signee Rueben Bain. Bain this past 2022 season recorded 57 total tackles, 39 went for a loss and 29 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 250 rising junior is rated an overall 5-star defensive end according to 247Sports and holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee.
